Another alright episdoe of the show that seems to mostly be meandering along. At least it’s not true freak of the week episode, but it might as well be. The only mythology it seems to further is that Jonathan has a weak heart and needs surgery.

While in the hospital we meet yet another one of Clark’s classmates that he, Lana, Chloe, and Pete all know but haven’t mentioned before. His name is Garrett Davis and his older brother named Vince, who is Garrett’s only local family, is dying of a rare liver disease.

After Clark and Garrett bond over having sick family members, Vince suddenly dies. Feeling bad, Clark offers the family farm as a place Garrett can stay until a distant uncle from Germany can make it to town. Honestly so far so good.

Then we need an episode so you know something is going to happen.

Vince comes back to life and exhibits symptoms like Adam Knight had been exhibiting after a night in a laboratory with Dr. Lia Teng, who coincidentally Lex and Chloe are trying to find.

Vince goes back to the hospital and Garrett snaps. This is where it goes down. But it seemed way out of character for Garrett to then strap himself with a kryptonite bomb and threaten to blow up the hospital so Vince can get a liver. And then to go one step further and force them to take Jonathan Kent’s liver because he’s on the operating table already just made it ten steps worse and even more unbelievable.

It all just goes downhill from there.

All too typical of Smallville this season.
