Episode 3.14
“Obsession”

Blah. The episode has one redeeming quality, I guess in that it’s interesting seeing Clark get to have actual conversations about his powers with someone who can actually understand him but that’s about it. The beginning had much potential when Clark and Alicia are stuck aboard a crashing elevator. Clark has to use his powers to stop it showing Alicia his strength (and heat vision). What happens next makes it interesting when Alicia grabs a hold of him and they teleport to safety. Clark obviously has quite a draw to the girl as he finally can be himself.
Now if they were smart the writers could have made this an arc. A real genuine storyline to explore.
Nope. They choose to go FotW and she goes from nice, lovable, interesting girl to Glenn Close in less time than you can say Fatal Attraction.
Obsessed with Clark things deteriorate quickly. Clark and Lana’s friendship take a hit when it’s obvious Clark has kept secrets from Lana that he has told Alicia. Clark and his parents have a minor fallout which involves some cringe inducing but plot necessary dialogue where Jonathan snarkily replies, “I suppose you’re going to tell me she knows about your weakness to meteor rocks?”
Um. Really? Ok.
The show just never finds it’s footing and when Adam is supposedly left for dead by Lionel Luthor it really is a disaster. Now granted, I don’t remember if that’s the end of the line with Adam, but for a character who had been pretty major during the season, he was brushed off and left for dead pretty quickly with little importance.
It all screams of a show that is becoming stagnant and mediocre.
