Episode 2.21
“Accelerate”
It’s a very haunted Smallville. In an effective, if somewhat predictbale PG-type “chiller” Lana’s dead childhood friend comes back from the grave to haunt Lana with the ability to appear than disappear like a ghost. She appears to be ten, the age she died and it freaks Lana out.
Well we know Lana’s not crazy…well at least that crazy. And we know she won’t end up being a ghost so the question is who is Emily Dinsmore now?
Clana decide to track down Emily’s father who is perturbed to hear Lana’s claim and stalks off in a huff claiming they’ve depressed him. He later runs into Emily who seemingly doesn’t understand why Lana says that she is dead. Emily questions her father, who is not surprised to see her and tells her to get in the car. She freaks out, stabs her father and runs away with Clark speed.
Lionel visits Mr. Dinsmore as Dinsmore unsurprisingly is a Luthorcorp. employee. Lex questions why Lionel is in Smallville so much recently.
A search of the Dinsmore resident turns up two other clones of Emily along with some kryptonite fluid of sorts obviously used to help the cloning process. Of course when the authorities show up – the basement is clean.
Clark goes back to look and finds Emily. Clark tries to explain to a confused Emily what the clones were and what she was but Lex interrupts and Emily runs away. Meanwhile Emily finds Lana and they go back to the river where Emily died while saving a young Lana. When Emily learns that she died saving Lana who couldn’t save her as well, she gets mad and pushes Lana in the river. Clark of course figures it all out and does his Clark thing.
Finally Lionel finds Emily and takes her away again, telling Mr. Dinsmore he’s off the project because he’s too emotionally attached.
A decent if predictable episode. Nothing particularly wrong, but nothing particularly memorable either.
